Dr. Michael P. Failey is currently engaged as a contractor and consultant specializing in analytical and nuclear chemistry technologies for laboratory, field deployed environmental monitoring, and power plant systems.
Dr. Failey is a seasoned nuclear chemistry section manager who served six years as general supervisor at a commercial nuclear power plant. He managed the team that monitored and maintained the chemistry operations for power plant systems. He supervised the chemistry staff responsible for operating plant equipment and support systems, including make-up and wastewater treatment systems. Dr. Failey is experienced with achieving INPO measures of excellence and maintaining EPRI technical specification for power plant operations.
As Principal Research Scientist for new technology, Michael has developed methods for process analysis and advanced state-of-the-art analytical systems. He has served as technical project lead on RD&E projects. He manages RD&E technical scope, project milestones, schedule, and budget and uses tools such MS Project to track progress.
Dr. Failey is a skilled laboratory analyst and investigator with an expert knowledge of radiochemistry, gamma-ray and alpha particle spectroscopy. He instructs staff on the fundamentals of operation and outlining improvement measures to minimize instrument limitations and optimize performance.
